LATE RESULTS NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Presented by Team 211 Enterprises

Irwindale, Calif. - - It was family night on Saturday night (kids admitted free, dollar hot dogs, tacos and sodas) at the Speedway ... and the unique opportunity to meet and cheer on three generations of the racing Gilliland family all in the same race (the Pick Your Part Super Late Models) brought out a great crowd 5,982 of NASCAR fans on Saturday. They were not disappointed with the show!

Ryan Vargas continued his 2014 season dominance handily winning both the Friday and Saturday night editions of the Universal City HollywoodTM Bandoleros, the youngster from LaMirada being followed to checkers by Lakeside's Allison Gay in both Friday and Saturday night's races with Levi Jackson (Trabuco Canyon) and McKenzie Eshleman (Twin Peaks) each collecting third place points, Jackson on Friday and Eshelman on Saturday.

The 6-lap Super Gen Trophy Dash ca$h was won by Alta Loma's Brent Scheidmantle.

Another twin win for Highland's Toni McCray went into the books on Saturday night as she won both episodes of the night's 30-lap Lucas Oil Late Model races. Trevor Huddleston (Agoura Hills) got a second in the first race and a placed third in the second chapter, with Ryan Partridge (Rancho Cucamonga) reversing that finish as he got third in the first race and second in the finale.

Robbie Hornsby, from Rancho Cucamonga, was the victor in the 25-lap race for the Seidner's Collision Centers Mini-Stocks. He was chased home by Tommy Genda from Fontana and Garrett Green from Long Beach.

In the night's feature race Jason Patison (Corona) had a very good night handily leading the Pick Your Part Super Late Models wire-to-wire in the 75-lap race. If he ever looked back from the lead he would have seen a heck of a race going on behind his streaking machine that (historically) included three generations of the Gilliland racing family.

When the dust finally settled, Jack Madrid, from Dove Canyon came home a solid second, and Todd, the youngest of the Gilliland's at 14 (in in his first-ever race at Irwindale!), took a well-deserved third place on the podium. Barry Karr (Redlands) and Todd's grandfather Butch Gilliland rounded out the top five in the crowd-pleasing, action-packed event. To his many fans' dismay, Todd's dad, NASCAR Sprint Cup regular David Gilliland, went out on lap 30 when he and Ryan Partridge got tangled up in turn one.
