“The House of Drift” Announces
Thursday Night Formula DRIFT Sessions
… Under the Irwindale Lights!

The “Smoking-Sideways Show” Starts June 12

Irwindale, Calif. (May 29, 2014) -- In a joint statement, Formula DRIFT and Irwindale Event Center announced a unique series of special Thursday night drifting sessions under the lights at Irwindale Speedway, the place that the drifting community long ago christened as: “The House of Drift”.

“This will be a ‘test and tune and train and try new ideas’ session for all of our top professional teams as well as a place where newcomers can get some practice and some valuable tips from the best in the business,” said Jim Liaw Formula DRIFT’s President and co-founder.

“There have been so many drivers (and fans) who have asked about setting up a series of sessions like this,” said Speedway President/CEO Jim Cohan. “And these unique Thursday night sessions here at Irwindale are going to answer a need that we’ve been hearing about for a long time now.”

Entrants will be grouped into three skill divisions based on experience. There will be three courses set up, each progressively faster and more difficult with the final course being the full Pro Drift course that is used for the series when it visits Irwindale. “We’ll allow plenty of time for drivers to work on style and technique during these sessions,” said Liaw “We are very excited about being able to offer drivers a chance at some very important practice time at Irwindale, and just as pleased that we’ll be able to have our great fans out for an ‘insider’s’ behind-the-scenes look at the art of Drifting 2014.”

The on-track sessions will be under the control of the same officials and technical people who operate the Formula DRIFT Professional Racing Series. This year the series will visit major racing venues across the United States with stops in Long Beach, Atlanta, New Jersey, Miami, Washington, and Texas before their annual season finale at Irwindale in October.

These Thursday night sessions will be open to the public. Admission to the track grandstand will be $10 and parking is free. Fan gates will open at 4:00pm and the Drift sessions will run until 9:00pm

The special Thursday night Formula DRIFT sessions will begin on Thursday June 12 and continue on July 24, August 14, September 25, November 13, and December 18
